Ons het aan die ooste kant van die aardskip gewerk. Die strooibale is weer vasgebind en alle gate is toe gestop. Tans is ons besig om die muur te pleister.

Binne kort sal julle geen strooibale in die aardskip sien nie.

We worked on the eastern side of the earthship. The bales are tied to the structure and all holes were plugged. Currently we are plastering the wall.

Soon you will not see any straw bales in the earthship.

It is now four years down the line.

Timeline:

* 2009 we heard about the earthship concept and the "Sonskip" idea was born.
* 2010 we studied the concept
* 2011 we acquired the best spot
* 2012 we buildt the outer shell
* 2013 we worked on the inside of the earthship

This year we want to finish the earthship.

We have now a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to stay for free (first come first serve basis) in the earthship and help finishing it off.

Elektra vorder in - www.aardskip.com - have now electricity from the bathroom to the lounge.

The earthship have now wall plugs and lights in the kitchen, dining room and lounge (living). Plus there is lights in the bathroom, kitchen, dining room and lounge.

We use 1, 2 and 6 watts LED lights. The total wattage of all the lights is only 19 watts. How ever previously we used 3x 25 halogen table lamps temporally and the wattage was close on 100 watts.

If you want to save power get LEDs. They cost more, but will last long enough that you can place them in your will and use a tenth of the power of normal globes.

Further more in the photo you will see another donation by a friend from Holland. The round white ventilation grid that can open and close on the left. Thanks Eric and Magdalene.

Badkamer voorskou - Bathroom sneak preview...

Hier is 'n foto van hoe die badkamer nou lyk. Ons het 'n vrywilliger gekry wat ons gehelp het vandag. Baie dankie Elizabeth, jou werk is fantasties. Ek plaas binnekort 'n foto van die finale mosaiek. Retha het die raam gemaak. Die hele kunswerk is gemaak van teëls wat ons opgetel het by Orania se herwiningsbank.

Here you see a sneak preview of our unfinished bathroom. We had a visitor, Elizabeth, in Orania who volunteer and helped Retha to finish the tiles in the bathroom. She really did a magnificent job. All the tiles was collected from our recycled centre in Orania.

Hier sien u die begin van verdere samewerking tussen Qala Tala en die Aardskip projek.

Mens sou byna kan sê 'n verdere samewerking tussen die ANC en Orania, maar so ver sal ek nou nie gaan nie.

Wat wel hier gebeur het, is dat daar beslis 'n kennis oordrag plaas gevind het van die Aardskip Projek in Orania na Qala Tala se se RDP projek in Bloemfontein. Die twee Oostenrykse studente vrywilligers en twee van my beste werkers het al vier gaan werk op Qala Tala se RDP projek.

My worker disappeared. He went the previous weekend to Beauford West and never came back.

Our first overseas volunteers are here to learn you to build an earthship. - aardskip - Ons Oostenrykse vrywilligers is hier om te leer.

Die vrywilliger is twee Oostenrykse studente wat hier is om aardskip seemyle op te doen.

Hulle wil baie graag hulle eie aardskip projek in Namibië begin.

Hier is hulle besig om te help met die gryswater plantebak.

These two volunteers are Austrian students, Neil an IT student and Patricia an architectural student.

There project is called the Mother Earthship Project that stands on three pillars:
1. Body - Earthships for underprivileged in Namibia
2. Mind - Up cycle computers from Austria for Namibia
3. Soul - Opening a market for recycled art.

The dam-lining that we going to use for the grey water cel arrived from "Kimberley Seile". Thanks to Henk transporting it twice. Currently we are busy installing it, thanks to Johan helping us, see photo.

Thanks to Vernon from "Tech Glass & Aluminium" for fixing the double glazing, the rubbers partially fell out in the transportation. Vernon will becoming in January to finish the job.

Ons het al 'n lang lys van mense, sien hier bo, wat ons vrywilliglik gehelp met ons projek. Die projek is nou so jaar aan die gang.

Die week het ons die eerste laag van die vloer voltooi en die ogiesdraad van die binnemure by die vloer styf gespan. Ons is dus gereed om die mure te begin pleister.

Vernon het die dubbel glas se rubbers vervang, hy het al die pad van Bloemfontein gekom.

Laastens het Henk vir ons die waterdig voering van die gryswatersel gebring. Johan het uit die bloute op gedaag en my gehelp om die voering te plaas, sien foto.
